Deck overview

This Abzan deck weaponizes high-toughness defender creatures into efficient combat threats. Built around Felothar the Steadfast, the list turns defensive walls into offensive attackers that deal combat damage using toughness instead of power. Early turns focus on establishing cheap defenders that provide ramp and card cantrips, such as Overgrown Battlement and Wall of Omens. Once Felothar or backup enablers like Doran, Besieged by Time and Assault Formation enter the battlefield, these low-cost creatures hit for massive damage. Felothar also converts spare 0-power creatures into huge bursts of fresh cards. The deck breaks parity on board wipes like Dusk // Dawn and Expel the Interlopers because its creatures have low power, wiping away opposing boards while leaving its own army intact. Evasion pieces like Behind the Scenes and Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa ensure walls connect for lethal damage.
