Deck overview

This Rakdos deck centers on turning card discard into explosive asymmetric damage and severe resource denial. Commanded by Malfegor, the deck utilizes continuous discard punishers such as Liliana's Caress, Megrim, Cool but Rude, and Magmakin Artillerist to drain opponents whenever hands are refreshed or discarded. Symmetrical draw-and-discard spells, including Dark Deal, Reforge the Soul, Burning Inquiry, and Magus of the Wheel, serve as both the primary damage engines and velocity enablers. Meanwhile, stax-like attrition threats such as Sire of Insanity, Mindslicer, and Archfiend of Ifnir strip opposing hands and sweep boards, breaking parity through madness, escape, and reanimation spells. The deck maintains high consistency through deep redundancy in the 99, allowing it to transition seamlessly between life-drain burn and evasive combat finishes even if the commander is never cast.
