Deck overview

This Golgari deck pilots an Insect-themed self-mill and graveyard aristocrats strategy led by Grist, Voracious Larva. The primary game plan focuses on filling the graveyard quickly during the early turns with efficient self-mill enablers like Stitcher's Supplier, Grisly Salvage, and Ripples of Undeath. Once a creature enters from the graveyard, Grist transforms into Grist, the Plague Swarm, supplying continuous token creation, targeted removal, and self-mill. The deck transitions into a lethal win condition around Turn 6 by resolving or reanimating massive Undergrowth payoffs such as Aatchik, Emerald Radian, Izoni, Thousand-Eyed, or Colossal Grave-Reaver. These payoffs generate wide swarms of Insect tokens that overpower opponents through combat damage buffed by The Swarmweaver or drain them out through death triggers from Cauldron of Essence and Aatchik.
