Format: Commander

Commander: Lathril, Blade of the Elves

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari Elf-tribal strategy headed by Lathril, Blade of the Elves. The primary game plan is to flood the board with cheap mana dorks and lords early, then convert that growing army into a win through either overwhelming combat (using Ezuri, Renegade Leader for trample or Elvish Champion for forestwalk) or Lathril's own tap-for-drain ability. The deck also contains a secondary drain win via Shaman of the Pack and Skemfar Shadowsage, and can assemble a mana-untap engine with Priest of Titania/Marwyn, the Nurturer and untap effects like Seedborn Muse or Staff of Domination to fuel a game-ending Staff of Domination activation or a repeated Lathril tap. The commander is the central token generator and drain outlet, but the elf core is deep enough to function at reduced capacity without her.
