Deck overview

This Orzhov midrange-combo deck helmed by Papalymo Totolymo leverages a dense noncreature-spell package to drain the table, pad life totals, and convert that cushion into explosive finishes. Papalymo taxes every noncreature cast for 1 damage and 1 life, then can cash himself in as a one-sided edict against anyone who lost life. The real engines live in the 99: Aetherflux Reservoir and Bolas's Citadel turn spell density and life into kills, Dark Depths plus Vampire Hexmage/Hex Parasite makes an indestructible 20/20, and a deep tutor suite (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Tainted Pact, Beseech the Mirror, Enlightened Tutor) assembles those lines reliably. Stax and hatebears (Drannith Magistrate, Opposition Agent, Grand Abolisher, Blind Obedience, Ghostly Prison) buy time while value engines (Smothering Tithe, Trouble in Pairs, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, The One Ring, Tymna the Weaver) refuel. Wins come from Reservoir lasers, Citadel storms, Marit Lage, or attrition drains-not from the commander himself.
