Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul midrange strategy led by Kibo, Uktabi Prince, blending Ape tribal synergy, +1/+1 counter scaling, and aggressive artifact punishment. The deck functions by accelerating Kibo onto the battlefield by Turn 3 and activating his ability to distribute Banana tokens to all players. Whenever opponents sacrifice their Bananas or lose artifacts to the deck's dense removal suite—including Vandalblast, Gorilla Shaman, and Meltdown—every Ape and Monkey receives +1/+1 counters. Counter multipliers like Branching Evolution and Hardened Scales rapidly turn modest primates into colossal threats, while Garruk's Uprising and Overwhelming Stampede grant trample to push lethal damage across the table. Stax elements like Manglehorn and Karn, the Great Creator turn opposing artifacts into liabilities and can assemble a hard lockout with Mycosynth Lattice.
