Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Dragon-Treasure deck that treats the commander, Smaug the Impenetrable, as both an indestructible beatstick and a damage-to-mana converter. The core loop is simple: put Smaug into play, run repeated noncombat damage through him via Pyrohemia, Pestilence, Self-Destruct, and Cut Propulsion, and turn every point of damage into a Treasure token. Those Treasures are then spent through Goldspan Dragon and Alchemist's Talent (two-mana Treasures), drawn through Smaug, Wicked Worm and The One Ring, drained through Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, Mayhem Devil, and Disciple of the Vault, or converted directly into wins by Revel in Riches, Hellkite Tyrant, and Knuckles the Echidna. Damage multipliers - Twinflame Tyrant, Fiery Emancipation, City on Fire - turn a single ping into a table-killing explosion. Flying-dragon beatdown and the two other Smaug legends act as hidden-commander backup plans.
