Y'shtola by Lorq

Format: Commander

Commander: Y'shtola, Night's Blessed

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a spell-slinging drain-control deck built around Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The plan is to convert a cascade of 3+ mana noncreature spells into table-wide life loss: Y'shtola pings for 2, Papalymo Totolymo and Mai, Scornful Striker add their own drain, and a squadron of 0/1 Wizard tokens from Black Mage's Rod, Circle of Power, Cornered by Black Mages, and Transpose turn every spell into another ping. The hidden partner pair Alisaie Leveilleur and Alphinaud Leveilleur discounts and draws on the second spell each turn, while Displacer Kitten re-buys Torrential Gearhulk and Emet-Selch of the Third Seat recurs instants/sorceries from the graveyard. The game typically ends on a doubled Exsanguinate under Bloodletter of Aclazotz, often set up by a Notion Thief + Windfall mega-draw, with Mornsong Aria serving as a draw/lifegain lockdown. A heavy Esper control shell of counterspells, instant-speed removal, and pillowfort carries the game to the late turns.
