Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar as an explosive burst card-draw engine in the command zone. The strategy relies on casting aggressively costed creatures with high power and drawback texts, such as Phyrexian Soulgorger, Rotting Regisaur, and Egon, God of Death. Rather than suffering their downfalls, the deck sacrifices them to Shadowheart to draw six to eight cards in a single activation. Drawing such immense card volume rapidly fills the hand with mana engines, protection spells, and win conditions. The deck finishes games cleanly on Turn 6 by converting cards in hand into mana with Skirge Familiar to cast a lethal Stensian Sanguinist // Exsanguinate, or by executing life-doubling combos using Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Archfiend of Despair alongside Dire Fleet Ravager or Tree of Perdition. While vulnerable to instant removal targeting its commander before activation, low-cost protection spells keep the engine intact.
