Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group-slug and aggressive midrange deck commanded by Gev, Scaled Scorch. The primary game plan revolves around dealing incidental damage to opponents each turn to trigger Gev's ability, granting entering creatures bonus +1/+1 counters. By stacking counters on efficient creatures and pingers such as Kindlespark Duo and Hearthborn Battler, the deck establishes early board presence and steady life drain. In the mid-to-late game, the deck accelerates its clock using damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation, additional combat steps from Moraug, Fury of Akoum, and massive mana bursts from Neheb, the Eternal. A disruptive suite featuring Stranglehold, Opposition Agent, and Archfiend of Depravity limits opposing tutoring and board development. While the deck possesses strong combat and burn resilience through graveyard recursion and redundant damage sources, it relies heavily on natural draws and remains vulnerable to mass exile sweepers.
