Deck overview

This Izzet deck is an aggressive discard-synergy engine led by Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. The game plan revolves around casting Captain Howler on Turn 4 and leveraging a dense suite of more than 30 cheap looting and rummaging spells to dramatically inflate Howler's power during combat. Each discarded card grants +2/+0 to target creature and draws extra cards upon dealing combat damage. Secondary payoffs including Brallin, Skyshark Rider, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, and Magmakin Artillerist convert every discard into direct burn against all opponents. An incidental two-card combo with Curiosity and Niv-Mizzet, Parun provides an alternative instant-win route if assembled through deep deck digging. The deck benefits from high card velocity and consistent land drops with 40 basic lands, but it lacks counterspells, noncreature removal, and dedicated protection against board wipes.
