Angels and Airways by SirOolian

Format: Commander

Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu Kaalia of the Vast reanimator build. The primary game plan is to turbo out Kaalia on turn three (with signets and talismans), then attack on turn four to cheat enormous Angels, Demons, and Dragons from hand into play tapped and attacking. Damage doublers like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight and Twinflame Tyrant convert early attacks into lethal damage, while extra combat effects from Aurelia, the Warleader and Scourge of the Throne chain multiple combat steps per turn. The deck backs this beatdown plan with a deterministic infinite-combo line (Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond) and a dense suite of board wipes and single-target removal. Reanimation via Whip of Erebos and Bladewing the Risen provides recovery, and Teferi's Protection plus Boros Charm offer crucial one-turn protection. The deck is built to overwhelm opponents with raw power and speed, relying on Kaalia's ability to bypass costly mana curves.
