Deck overview

This deck combines a political Group Hug shell with a Selesnya 'toughness matters' combat engine, commanded by Gluntch, the Bestower. In the opening turns, the deck uses efficient mana ramp and symmetrical draw effects like Cut a Deal, Secret Rendezvous, and Truce to accelerate mana and curate resources while deflecting aggression through political goodwill and pillowfort pieces like Orzhov Advokist and Nils, Discipline Enforcer. Once a solid defensive perimeter of high-toughness creatures is established, the deck resolves enablers such as Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, Rasaad yn Bashir, or Baldin, Century Herdmaster to allow creatures to deal combat damage using their toughness instead of power. Asymmetric sweepers like Wave of Reckoning and Expel the Interlopers wipe out opposing power-heavy boards while leaving your high-toughness defenders unharmed. The deck finishes the game through massive combat swings from Ancient Adamantoise and The Walls of Ba Sing Se.
