Deck overview

This Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck is an Azorius stax and control strategy designed to slow opposing development while assembling an efficient combo finish. The commander provides immediate asymmetric tempo by taxing all opponents by one mana per spell while discounting the pilot's own spells by up to two mana. This mana advantage allows the deck to deploy taxing permanents such as Thorn of Amethyst, Drannith Magistrate, and Kismet with minimal self-imposed friction. While opponents struggle to curve out under attack taxes and mana denial, the deck draws cards through Rhystic Study and Esper Sentinel to assemble its primary win condition: Heliod, Sun-Crowned paired with Walking Ballista. Once assembled, the pair deals arbitrary damage to all opponents at instant speed. Backup lines include Rest in Peace combined with Helm of Obedience and Approach of the Second Sun, giving the deck inevitable closing power behind a dense defensive web.
