Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Rakdos Big Mana and Combo strategy centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug provides an 8/7 flying, indestructible, and hasty body that turns all noncombat damage dealt to it into Treasure tokens. The game plan focuses on deploying early artifact ramp to cast Smaug by Turn 5, then triggering mass Treasure generation through self-inflicted damage spells like Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, or Dizzying Gaze. These massive mana bursts immediately fuel game-ending combos such as Bolas's Citadel with Sensei's Divining Top and Aetherflux Reservoir, or Underworld Breach storm lines with Grinding Station. A dense suite of free and low-cost redirection spells, countermagic, and death-trigger insurance protects Smaug from exile removal and counterspells. When Smaug is unavailable, the deck can pivot smoothly to its primary artifact storm win conditions using its powerful tutor package.
