Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a dedicated Spider tribal and fight-control strategy helmed by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant. The game plan revolves around deploying low-cost Spiders in the early turns and ramping into Shelob on Turn 5 or 6. Once Shelob is on the battlefield, all Spiders gain deathtouch and ward {2}. The deck capitalizes on this synergy through an extensive suite of low-cost bite and fight spells, which destroy opposing creatures via deathtouch damage and trigger Shelob to create Food artifact copies of them. This creates a powerful asymmetric swing by removing opposing threats while adding their abilities to your own battlefield. Card advantage engines like Morbid Opportunist and Deathreap Ritual keep your hand full as creatures die. The deck finishes games through Shelob commander damage, swarming attacks boosted by Predatory Rampage, or reach and life-drain activations from Ishkanah, Grafwidow and Rotwidow Pack.
