Deck overview

This mono-blue tempo deck uses Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel to bypass mana costs entirely. Malcolm enters the battlefield early, using flash and flying to safely attack and accumulate chorus counters. The deck accelerates this progression with proliferate spells like Contentious Plan and equipment like Fireshrieker. Once Malcolm reaches four counters, his combat trigger casts enormous game-ending spells directly from hand for free. Cheating cards such as Portal to Phyrexia, Hullbreaker Horror, Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant, and Artisan of Kozilek onto the battlefield around Turn 5 establishes an insurmountable board state. A dense suite of one-mana protection spells and cheap countermagic keeps Malcolm alive during critical combat steps. Without needing fast mana artifacts or infinite loops, the deck achieves victory through overwhelming board control and large combat swings.
