Deck overview

This Esper deck leverages The Ur-Sphinx to execute a Sphinx tribal midrange strategy. The commander provides a constant {1} mana cost reduction from the command zone, allowing the deck to accelerate into massive flying threats ahead of curve. The early turns focus on developing mana rocks and cost reducers such as Urza's Incubator and Herald's Horn. By Turn 4, the deck deploys value-generating Sphinxes like Defiler of Dreams, Raffine, Scheming Seer, and Consecrated Sphinx to bury opponents in card advantage. From Turn 6 onward, the deck establishes critical onset by attacking with 15 to 25 flying power, utilizing Magister Sphinx to halve life totals and The Ur-Sphinx to cast free spells off combat mill triggers. A dedicated package of efficient counterspells and removal provides reactive disruption, while reanimation spells offer quick recovery from board sweepers, culminating in a combat victory around Turn 8.
