Deck overview

This Ultros, Obnoxious Octopus deck operates as a mono-blue tempo and control strategy centered around casting 4-mana noncreature spells. Deploying Ultros early allows subsequent spells like Concentrate, Control Magic, and Behold the Unspeakable to distribute stun counters that lock down key opposing threats. This board management opens attack lanes for evasive creatures such as Dreamtide Whale, All-Seeing Arbiter, and The Mindskinner. Developing at a fair one-land-per-turn pace due to minimal ramp, the deck uses one-shot draw spells to maintain hand size while leaning on counterspells and bounce spells to disrupt decisive plays. It closes games by chaining unblockable combat damage or table-wide mill across several turns.
