Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern, focusing on aggressive resource denial, forced sacrifice, and symmetric discard effects. The game plan accelerates mana through early rocks like Jet Medallion and Sol Ring, deploying Tergrid by Turn 4. On Turn 5, the deck breaks parity on mass discard and sacrifice spells such as Dark Deal, Delirium Skeins, and Pox, immediately stealing all discarded or sacrificed permanents onto your battlefield. This strips opponents of their hands and battlefield presences while assembling a lethal board out of their own cards. Backup win conditions include heavy discard drain from Megrim, Liliana's Caress, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, as well as massive mana generation from Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx into a game-ending Torment of Hailfire. The deck excels at locking down opponents but requires careful timing to protect Tergrid from instant-speed removal before her triggers resolve.
