Deck overview

Varina, Lich Queen helms an explosive Esper Zombie tribal deck engineered around aristocrats sacrifice loops, graveyard recursion, and aggressive card selection. The deck leverages low-curve Zombies to trigger Varina's attack-based looting, rapidly filtering through the library while stocking the graveyard with fuel. The primary game plan centers on assembling an infinite drain engine using Gravecrawler, a free sacrifice outlet like Phyrexian Altar, and a damage payoff such as Corpse Knight, Wayward Servant, or Plague Belcher. High-impact tutors including Buried Alive, Intuition, and Entomb streamline assembly by Turn 4. Beyond the primary combo, the deck possesses immense resilience through mass reanimation spells like Living Death and Zombie Apocalypse, punishing opposing removal while converting board wipes into game-ending swings with Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Supported by efficient countermagic and asymmetric attrition engines, the deck transitions seamlessly between aggressive token pressure, grinding board control, and sudden same-turn combo finishes.
