Deck overview

This Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow deck is a competitive tempo-control strategy that converts early unblockable attackers into explosive, table-wide life loss and relentless card advantage. By activating Commander Ninjutsu for just {U}{B}, Yuriko cheats the normal timing of creature spells, dodges traditional countermagic, and ignores commander tax entirely. The deck loads its library with high mana value cards like Shadow of Mortality and Temporal Trespass—alongside versatile modal double-faced lands—to maximize Yuriko's burn triggers while keeping actual casting costs low. The continuous stream of drawn cards directly fuels a dense suite of free interaction, including Force of Negation, Deadly Rollick, and Mindbreak Trap. Asymmetric stax pieces like Cursed Totem and Grafdigger's Cage further paralyze opposing creature and graveyard combos without hindering the deck's own game plan, enabling a rapid and resilient close.
