Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Rat tribal and aristocrats strategy led by Totentanz, Swarm Piper. It focuses on curving out low-cost nontoken Rats and utility creatures, turning their deaths into 1/1 Rat tokens that cannot block. These tokens fuel sacrifice outlets such as Goblin Bombardment and Ashnod's Altar while triggering drain effects from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Mirkwood Bats. Mid-game payoffs like Marrow-Gnawer, Ogre Slumlord, and Twisted Sewer-Witch expand the board rapidly and provide evasion through fear and menace. The deck sustains card advantage through steady engines like Morbid Opportunist, Idol of Oblivion, and Phyrexian Arena. While it lacks fast combo finishes and stack protection, its high creature density, redundant drain pieces, and graveyard recursion allow it to apply steady pressure and outlast opponents in combat and attrition.
