Olivia's Hazel | Game Knights #72 by claytoniousix

Format: Commander

Commander: Hazel of the Rootbloom

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Hazel of the Rootbloom is the engine of a Golgari token-ramp build. The primary plan is to make a wide board of tokens, turn them into mana with Hazel (or Jaheira, Circle of Dreams Druid, and Cryptolith Rite), then turn that mana into an overwhelming Finale of Devastation, Beastmaster Ascension, or Return of the Wildspeaker attack. Secondary paths run landfall (Avenger, Scute Swarm, Field of the Dead) and squirrel payoffs (Chatterfang, Deep Forest Hermit, Swarmyard Massacre). There is no hidden commander; Grist and Beledros add backup value. Both of Hazel's modes matter: the tap ability accelerates X-spells and the end step copies tokens, doubling into Squirrel copies.
