Deck overview

This competitive Dimir deck is commanded by Vren, the Relentless, functioning as an oppressive control and midrange stax engine. It leverages format-ceiling fast mana, including Chrome Mox, Mana Vault, and Dark Ritual, to deploy Vren, the Relentless ahead of curve. Once on the battlefield, Vren permanently exiles opposing creatures whenever they would die, shutting down aristocrats and graveyard strategies while turning board wipes and edicts like Toxic Deluge, Massacre, and Sheoldred's Edict into massive token-generating swings. At each end step, Vren produces scaling Relentless Rat tokens that rapidly threaten lethal combat damage across the table. The list is heavily fortified by elite card engines like Rhystic Study, Necropotence, and The One Ring, alongside premium free interaction including Fierce Guardianship, Force of Will, and Deadly Rollick. Proactive hate pieces like Opposition Agent and Notion Thief strangle opposing game plans, while combo routes like Marrow-Gnawer with Thornbite Staff offer explosive instant finishes.
