Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Golgari midrange engine built around The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride. The strategy revolves around deploying aggressively costed creatures with massive power, such as Hunted Horror, Rotting Regisaur, and Phyrexian Soulgorger, during the early turns. On Turn 4, casting Gitrog enables an immediate attack with haste, using Saddle 1 to sacrifice an oversized creature upon dealing combat damage. This single combat connection draws between 6 and 11 cards while placing up to that many lands directly onto the battlefield. With an enormous mana base and a full hand on Turn 5, the deck transitions into lethal big-mana payoffs, including Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, and Finale of Devastation. The deck pairs this explosive primary loop with dense functional redundancy, backup sacrifice engines like Greater Good, and versatile permanent removal.
