Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green stompy strategy centered on Gargos, Vicious Watcher, leveraging massive mana generation, +1/+1 counter synergies, and discounted Hydra threats. The game plan focuses on deploying early ramp creatures and counter multipliers like Hardened Scales, Kami of Whispered Hopes, and Branching Evolution to accelerate into Gargos on Turn 4. Once on the battlefield, Gargos's four-mana discount allows the deck to flood the board with enormous X-cost Hydras such as Primordial Hydra, Genesis Hydra, and Kalonian Hydra. Gargos also turns single-target protection spells like Tyvar's Stand and Sheltering Word into potent creature removal via its fight trigger. The deck establishes a critical must-answer combat board around Turn 6 and closes out the game on Turn 7 using overwhelming trample damage from Overwhelming Stampede, Garruk's Uprising, or Champion of Lambholt. While vulnerable to mass exile and repeated board wipes, deep functional redundancy provides strong recovery and resilience.
