Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition and discard midrange strategy commanded by Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor. The primary game plan utilizes cheap, evasive creatures such as Nether Traitor and Tinybones, the Pickpocket to trigger Gix's combat damage ability early, converting life into card advantage. The deck leverages this card flow to assemble punishing resource-denial pieces like Chains of Mephistopheles, Teferi's Puzzle Box, Words of Waste, and Mindslicer. These tools empty opponents' hands and deny them normal development. Parity is broken through asymmetric payoffs such as Tergrid, God of Fright, Waste Not, and Hostile Investigator. As the table runs out of resources, the deck closes the game on Turns 6–7 through scaling life drain from Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, doubled loss of life from Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Wound Reflection, or a lethal mana-boosted Torment of Hailfire enabled by Cabal Coffers.
