Deck overview

Led by Caesar, Legion's Emperor, this Mardu deck executes a proactive token-aggro and aristocrats game plan. It leverages low-curve token generators like Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon, and Loyal Apprentice to establish an immediate attacking board. Once Caesar enters the battlefield on Turn 4, every combat step turns disposable creature tokens into sustained card advantage, token proliferation, and targeted direct damage. The deck scales into the mid-game by pairing wide boards with anthems like Fervent Charge and aristocrat drain engines like Mirkwood Bats, Bastion of Remembrance, and Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim. While lacking fast mana, instant-speed stack countermagic, and infinite combos, it features high redundancy across its token and sacrifice roles alongside powerful asymmetric sweepers like Hour of Reckoning and Ruinous Ultimatum. The deck reliably creates lethal pressure by Turn 6 and closes out the table across two combat cycles by Turn 8.
