Commander: Hazel of the Rootbloom

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hazel of the Rootbloom is the engine of a Golgari Squirrel-token deck that aims to outpace opponents with exponential token production. The primary plan is to create tokens early with Squirrel Nest, Chitterspitter, or Prosperous Innkeeper, multiply every token event with Chatterfang, and then use Hazel's end-step trigger to turn one Squirrel into four. Hazel's tap ability converts the wide Squirrel army into burst mana for overruns such as Beastmaster Ascension or End-Raze Forerunners. Secondary wins come from death-trigger drain while sacrificing tokens to Plumb the Forbidden or Deadly Dispute. The Odd Acorn Gang acts as a hidden commander, pumping Squirrels and drawing cards after combat. The deck has no infinite combo and no counterspells, so it must assemble a critical mass before a wipe.
