Format: Commander

Commander: Witherbloom, the Balancer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Witherbloom, the Balancer is the engine and finisher of this Golgari token-life deck. Its affinity for creatures makes both the commander and every instant/sorcery cheaper as the board grows, so the primary plan is to amass Pests, Zombies, Saprolings, and Scute Swarm copies, then win with Craterhoof Behemoth, a giant Exsanguinate, or the Exquisite Blood/Sanguine Bond drain loop. The commander also serves as a flying deathtouch attacker. Secondary lines include Lathril, Blade of the Elves' activated ability and Rise of the Dark Realms recursion. There is no hidden commander; Witherbloom's role is both cost reducer and resilient evasive threat. The deck can win out of nowhere once a wide board and a life-gain trigger come together.
