Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir tribal and exile-focused Voltron strategy commanded by Umbris, Fear Manifest. The primary game plan revolves around deploying 2-3 CMC mana rocks in the early game to cast Umbris on Turn 4 or 5. Once on the battlefield, every subsequent Nightmare or Horror cast—alongside mass exile effects like Ashiok, Dream Render and Leyline of the Void—exiles large chunks of opposing libraries, rapidly inflating Umbris into a massive threat. The deck converts this size into lethal commander damage using evasion enablers like Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Shizo, Death's Storehouse. While the deck lacks tutors and relies on sequential combat damage to eliminate opponents one by one over multiple turn cycles, it possesses robust backup beaters like Hullbreaker Horror and Brainstealer Dragon, supported by a standard suite of Dimir countermagic and targeted removal.
