Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck is led by Ayara, First of Locthwain, who serves as an in-command-zone life drain payoff and card draw engine. The primary game plan focuses on assembling recursive sacrifice loops using Gravecrawler, a free sacrifice outlet like Carrion Feeder or Ashnod's Altar, and mana generators like Pitiless Plunderer. Once assembled, this engine repeatedly triggers Ayara to drain all three opponents from 40 to 0 life in a single turn. The deck is reinforced by devotion payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, compact backup combos such as Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond, and black tutors including Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Buried Alive. While the deck features explosive burst mana via Dark Ritual and Culling the Weak, it relies heavily on graveyard access and creature permanents, making targeted graveyard exile and creature removal its primary vulnerabilities.
