Deck overview

This deck is a focused Mardu combat deck helmed by Kaalia of the Vast. Its game plan centers on ramping into Kaalia by turn 3 or 4, protecting her with free spells or equipment, and attacking to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs range from game-ending attackers like Master of Cruelties to board-wide protection like Avacyn, Angel of Hope and extra-combat engines like Aurelia, the Warleader and Bloodthirster. While the deck threatens fast player eliminations starting on turn 4, it relies heavily on Kaalia to bypass the high mana costs of its 18 heavy creatures.
