Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and aristocrats engine led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Early turns focus on establishing low-cost lifegain and tax permanents like Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim. On Turn 6, deploying Niv-Mizzet unlocks a potent draw engine, turning every point of gained life into card advantage at the cost of equal life. The deck leverages this influx of resources to assemble overlapping drain engines, including Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Defiling Daemogoth, while generating board presence with Germinate Recruits. Defensive cards like Blind Obedience and Ghostly Prison slow down opposing combat steps, giving the deck the necessary breathing room to close out games through accumulated drain and a finishing Stensian Sanguinist // Exsanguinate around Turn 9.
