Deck overview

Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker uses small creatures as renewable sacrifice resources. Viscera Seer, Phyrexian Altar, Attrition, and Gate to Phyrexia turn those creatures into scrying, mana, or removal, while Grave Pact converts each sacrifice into opposing creature loss. Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Marionette Apprentice, and The Meathook Massacre provide life-drain payoffs. The deck has unusually strong mono-black acceleration and several tutors, so it can assemble its value engine around turns 6–7. Its critical state normally arrives later, when Grave Pact joins the recursive engine. That state can dominate creature-heavy tables, but it is not a complete lock and does not reliably kill three opponents. The main weaknesses are commander dependence, delayed recursion, limited protection, and modest stack interaction. The deck is best played as an attrition-control deck that preserves its commander and converts disposable creatures into repeated resource exchanges.
