Grist, mother of bookworms by user8133679

Format: Commander

Commander: Grist, the Hunger Tide

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Golgari Insect build is a self-mill engine dressed as a token deck. Its primary plan is to put dozens of creature cards into the graveyard, turn that mass into Insect tokens (Grist's +1, Crawling Infestation, Old Rutstein, Aatchik), and convert every death, mill, or graveyard exit into life loss through Syr Konrad, Aatchik, and Last Laugh. Secondary paths are a big Grist ultimate, Canoptek Scarab Swarm exiling the yard with Syr Konrad on board, or a wide Insect army. Grist, the Hunger Tide provides token generation, selective milling, and removal; the second Grist in the 99 acts as a hidden backup commander and can transform into a deathtouch-token planeswalker.
