Format: Commander

Commander: Samwise Gamgee

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Samwise Gamgee leads a grindy Food-token value deck that converts every nontoken creature entering the battlefield into Food, then spends that Food on one of the most flexible recursion triggers in the format: three Foods return any historic card to hand. From there the deck snowballs - Peregrin Took, Academy Manufactor, Bilbo, Fellow Conspirator, and Elspeth, Storm Slayer expand a single Food trigger into a dozen Clues, Foods, and Treasures, while Caretaker's Talent and The One Ring keep the hand full. The primary win condition is a wide, buffed battlefield: Halflings and Soldiers pumped by Elspeth, Caretaker's Talent's anthem, and Second Breakfast, backed by a heavily discounted Ghalta, Primal Hunger and an uncounterable Last March of the Ents to refill and dump the hand. There are no infinite loops; the deck wins through repetition, value accumulation, and combat inevitability, with Samwise Gamgee's repeated historic retrieval acting as both its recovery valve and its engine.
