Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable leads a Rakdos artifact-damage deck that turns damage to Smaug into Treasures, then converts those Treasures into drain via Mayhem Devil, Disciple of the Vault, Marionette Apprentice, and similar payoffs. The primary plan is to cast Smaug, point burn at him to generate a burst of Treasures, and finish with artifact-sacrifice drain or a big Exsanguinate. Secondary paths include Hellkite Tyrant's artifact-control win, Revel in Riches, and the Brash Taunter + Dawnsire damage loop. The deck is built around Smaug's face: haste and indestructible make him a reusable damage sponge, while his back face is not used.
