Deck overview

This deck is a focused mono-black tribal swarm strategy built around Karumonix, the Rat King and a dense package of 20 Relentless Rats. The primary objective is to curve out with early Rats, using Karumonix to replenish the hand by digging for additional rodent threats. Once multiple copies of Relentless Rats enter the battlefield, their mutual power and toughness buff compounds rapidly, while Karumonix grants each creature toxic 1 to split lethal pressure between 40 life and 10 poison counters. Mid-game bombs like Thrumming Stone enable explosive turns that dump numerous Rats into play via ripple 4, while Secret Salvage and Echoing Return provide powerful hand refilling tailored specifically to duplicate card names. The deck's primary limitations stem from lack of instant-speed stack interaction, susceptibility to board sweepers, and minimal mass evasion beyond menace from Piper of the Swarm.
