Abzan shenans by ChaoticUrsus

Format: Commander

Commander: Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This Abzan partner pair is a turbo-combo deck, not a counters deck. The primary plan is to tutor into one of three compact two-card kills-Witherbloom Apprentice plus Chain of Smog, Heliod, Sun-Crowned plus Walking Ballista, or Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank-and protect the turn with Silence-type effects. Yoshimaru and Reyhan act as early pressure, sacrifice fodder, and a counter-based backup plan; Yoshimaru grows from the many legendary permanents while Reyhan moves counters when creatures die. There is no hidden commander and no double-faced commander; the deck is built around the three combo channels. Jennifer Walters is played primarily for her front-face 'no opponent spells on your turn' ability, with the back face as optional reach.
