Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and attrition strategy built around Vren, the Relentless. The primary game plan revolves around casting Vren on curve and triggering continuous edict effects like Fleshbag Marauder, Accursed Marauder, and Sheoldred's Edict. Because Vren exiles dying opposing creatures, it nullifies opposing graveyard strategies while generating a devastating army of scaling Relentless Rat tokens at each end step. The deck backs this engine with an extensive counterspell suite, hand-disruption combos like Narset, Parter of Veils and Notion Thief with Windfall, and efficient recursive protection spells like Not Dead After All. Once established, the deck turns asymmetric creature removal directly into lethal combat damage, overwhelming opponents with large evasive Rats boosted by Marrow-Gnawer or Piper of the Swarm.
