Deck overview

This is a Simic Merfolk tribal midrange deck helmed by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The core plan floods the board with Merfolk, then uses Hakbal's combat explore trigger to pump the team with +1/+1 counters while ramping extra lands or drawing cards. Counter multipliers (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, Court of Garenbrig) and lords turn the wide board into an unblockable alpha strike via Herald of Secret Streams or islandwalk. Token engines (Deeproot Waters, Deeproot Pilgrimage, Emperor Mihail II) and card advantage (Kindred Discovery, Rhystic Study, Tatyova, Benthic Druid) provide fuel. A secondary combo finish exists through Wanderwine Prophets chaining extra turns by sacrificing Merfolk, backed by Time Warp. The deck wins through overwhelming combat or turn-lock inevitability rather than pure combo speed.
