Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black midrange strategy commanded by Jhoira, Weatherlight Corsair, focused on stealing opponents' best historic permanents and turning them into an asymmetric board advantage. The game plan ramps efficiently into Jhoira by turn 5, immediately pulling artifacts, legendaries, or Sagas from opposing libraries directly onto the battlefield. From turn 6 onward, repeated combat attacks with Jhoira and supporting theft threats like Brainstealer Dragon, Elder Brain, and Arvinox, the Mind Flail compound resources while draining opposing life totals. Equipment such as Blade of Selves, Commander's Plate, and Sword of Hearth and Home maximize trigger frequency and grant protection against the majority of targeted removal. While the deck lacks instant-speed infinite combos and relies on combat damage across multiple turn rotations to close the game, its dense mana base, reanimation backups, and heavy theft engines make it a resilient attrition powerhouse.
