Deck overview

This deck executes an Abzan keyword-soup Voltron strategy led by Kathril, Aspect Warper. The primary game plan fills the graveyard during early turns using focused discard and self-mill spells like Buried Alive, Grisly Salvage, and Underrealm Lich. Once high-value keyword creatures like Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Akroma, Angel of Wrath are in the graveyard, casting Kathril on Turn 5 creates a massive, evasive, double-striking, indestructible, and hexproof threat. Kathril then knocks out opponents through lethal commander damage over three consecutive combat steps. Secondary win lines capitalize on heavy reanimation spells, including Living Death and Eerie Ultimatum, alongside keyword-sharing engines like Odric, Lunarch Marshal. While the deck features robust built-in resilience against targeted destruction, it remains sensitive to early graveyard hate and non-targeted exile board wipes.
