Deck overview

Varina, Lich Queen is a three-color zombie tribal engine that uses combat to turn cards in hand into graveyard fuel and life. The primary plan is to amass zombie tokens, pump them with lords and anthem effects, and finish with a wide flying alpha strike or a Gray Merchant drain. The graveyard is a resource: Varina's discard feeds Dying to Serve and her own activated token creation. A secondary plan combines Rooftop Storm, Gravecrawler, Grimgrin, and Diregraf Captain into an infinite sacrifice loop. The Scarab God, Gisa and Geralf, and Zul Ashur add recursion. The deck has cheap spot interaction and counterspells, but no tutors and no way to remove artifacts or enchantments, which shapes how fragile its engine is.
