Drain & Gain by user4856620

Format: Commander

Commander: Lathril, Blade of the Elves

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Lathril is the primary engine for building an Elf board, but this list is actually a BG tutor-combo deck. Most games end through an infinite life-drain loop: Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with any "whenever you gain life" payoff such as Dina, Soul Steeper, Vito, Enduring Tenacity, or Marauding Blight-Priest. Those combo lines do not require Lathril, so the commander serves mainly as an early board-maker, menace attacker, and fallback drain. Secondary paths include Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank, Bolas's Citadel plus Sensei's Divining Top and Sheoldred, Staff of Domination with big elf mana, and Finale of Devastation as a tutor plus haste overrun. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built around Lathril while keeping a tutor-focused combo framework.
