Deck overview

This Orzhov aristocrats deck uses Athreos, God of Passage to impose severe tax penalties on opponents whenever small utility creatures die. The primary strategy grinds down life totals using recurring sacrifice fodder, free sacrifice outlets, and blood artist drain engines. Athreos creates a lose-lose dilemma: opponents must pay three life or return your dead creatures directly to hand. The deck converts this steady value into lethal game-ending combos through infinite sacrifice loops, such as Leonin Relic-Warder with Animate Dead and a drain piece, Karmic Guide and Reveillark loops, or Exquisite Blood paired with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Bloodthirsty Conqueror.
