Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Bad Santa control and combat attrition list built around Jon Irenicus, Shattered One. The strategy revolves around casting heavily drawback-laden creatures—such as Steel Golem, Demonic Taskmaster, Plague Reaver, and Phyrexian Soulgorger—and using Jon's end-step ability to donate them to opponents. By granting +1/+1 counters, permanent goad, and sacrifice immunity, Jon turns catastrophic self-harm effects into asymmetric weapons that tear apart opponents' resources and force them to attack each other. Each attack by an owned creature draws a card, continuously fueling the pilot's hand. As the table eliminates itself under goaded pressure and attrition, the deck establishes defensive fortifications through Propaganda, Dissipation Field, and Glacial Chasm to survive until the final duel, where remaining opponents are finished off through unblockable attackers, oversized beaters, or targeted life loss.
