Astarion Update by MikonaMTG

Format: Commander

Commander: Astarion, the Decadent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Astarion, the Decadent leads an Orzhov drain/lifegain deck that converts every point of life gained or lost by opponents into pressure. The primary plan is a two-card infinite loop: Bloodthirsty Conqueror with any "whenever you gain life, target opponent loses life" effect, started by a lifelink hit or Extort trigger. Secondary paths use Sorin of House Markov, Edgar, and Elenda as Vampire engines, plus Fraying Omnipotence and Quietus Spike to halve life totals and let Astarion's Feed close out a player. Sorin, Ravenous Neonate is the closest thing to a hidden commander, turning life gain into direct damage. The deck is proactive and redundant, but vulnerable on the stack.
